Meet Our Coaches

Carmen Jorgensen, Magma Volleyball Club coach

Carmen Jorgensen

Hi everyone! My name is Carmen Jorgensen, and volleyball has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I played throughout my entire school career, from 6th grade through my senior year, and played club volleyball from 8th grade through senior year.

During my senior club season, I began assistant coaching alongside my mom, and I’ve been coaching ever since! This upcoming season will be my 4th year coaching.

I’ve always had such a deep love for volleyball, and when my playing career ended after high school, I knew I wasn’t ready to give the sport up. Coaching gave me the opportunity to stay connected to the game I love, and now I have the amazing opportunity to take that passion even further as one of the founders of Magma Volleyball Club!

My favorite thing about volleyball, besides getting to play, is the relationships you build and the memories you make as part of a team. I’m so excited to help create that same experience for our athletes at Magma and make this season one to remember!

Emily Kendall, Magma Volleyball Club coach

Emily Kendall

Hello! My name is Emily Kendall. I started playing volleyball when I was 12 years old in Arizona, where I grew up. I typically played outside hitter and right side and loved going to practices and tournaments. I continued playing into my freshman year of college at Pacific University. I spent a few seasons assistant coaching for Special Olympics volleyball and had a lot of fun helping our team win our division!

This past spring, I completed my Bachelor’s in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Portland State. Most recently, I volunteered one-on-one with Camp Yakety Yak, a day camp for youth ages 5–18 experiencing physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, joined by their typically developing siblings and friends. I am excited to meet all of you, have fun, and pass on the useful skills and knowledge I was given during my time as a player.

Allikah James

Hi, everyone! My name is Allikah, and I’m 22 years old. I’ve been playing volleyball since I was 12, and I began coaching after high school. My favorite part of coaching is being part of such an uplifting environment.

In my free time, I enjoy playing Fortnite and spending time with my cat, Syree. This upcoming season, I’m most excited to watch everyone grow—not only in their volleyball skills, but also through the friendships they make along the way.

Sienna Koster

Coach Sienna brings eight years of volleyball experience to the team. She will be coaching alongside her mom to create a powerful and dynamic coaching duo. Coach Sienna believes in hard work and dedication on and off the court. The most important thing to her is seeing her players’ passion for the game.

Elyssa Koster

Coach Elyssa has played and coached volleyball for over 20 years. She is a former player at Parkrose High School and has many years of club volleyball experience. She focuses on teaching solid fundamentals, building team spirit, and having fun on the court. Coach Elyssa wants every player to grow in skill and confidence each season.

Vanessa Shern, Magma Volleyball Club coach

Vanessa Shern

Hello, my name is Vanessa Shern, and I’m so excited to start this journey as one of the Magma Volleyball Club coaches! I played volleyball throughout middle school and high school as a setter and have missed the game and the community it brings to us girls. What I love most about coaching is watching the team progress and the girls build a community with one another, because I know how important that is for them. I’m so excited to push these girls, strengthen their skills, and nourish their love for the sport the same way my coaches did for me.

Savaya Sanders, Magma Volleyball Club coach

Savaya Sanders

Hey everyone! My name is Savaya, and I’m so excited to be coaching this season!

I’ve been playing volleyball since eighth grade and continued through my senior year of high school. Throughout my playing career, I primarily played middle blocker and right-side hitter, which helped me develop a strong understanding of both offense and defense.

One of the biggest things I learned throughout my career was how important good coaching and communication are. At my previous school, I often stepped into a leadership role by helping organize the team, teaching teammates, and supporting practices. That experience helped me grow as both a player and a leader. During my senior year, I was honored to be named team captain, where I focused on encouraging my teammates, building confidence, and helping everyone improve.

As a coach, my goal is to create a positive, supportive environment where every player feels comfortable learning, asking questions, and challenging themselves. I believe every athlete can improve with the right guidance, encouragement, and consistent effort. I want each player to leave every practice with more confidence, better skills, and a greater love for the game, as I did.

I’m looking forward to getting to know each player and family, working hard together, and making this a fun and successful season. Thank you for trusting me to be a part of your athlete’s volleyball journey—I can’t wait to get started!

BreAnna Luton, Magma Volleyball Club coach

BreAnna Luton

Hi, I’m BreAnna, and I’m excited to be your coach this season! I’ve been playing volleyball since I was 13, and while this is my first time coaching, I’m excited to share what I’ve learned and continue growing with the team. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and helping each player develop their skills and confidence.
